I think that in this video Veronica Roth explains her book in a way i would never had thought of. i thihnk she did this very well, because she used words that i would never use. I belive that because she wrote the book, she know what she was thihnking while writing the book, and can explaoin what it is about. Now being finished with the book i completly agree with what she is saying throughout the whole interview. I loved this book, adn cant wait to start the next one, and watch the movie for the second time when it comes out on DVD.

I love this writing; I think I used a lot of strategies very well. I love the way I used very good diction in many places, i like how this adds a more formal feel to the reading. I also like how I used dialogue. I think this causes the reader to add some meaning to the reading. I also liked how I used some foreshadowing in the beginning of the reading too. I really like ths writing for many reasons, do you like it too?

“Welcome aboard! Have fun in Bermuda!” I said to every passenger boarding the airplane.
“Thanks! You too!” Replied the passengers.
Today was going to be my first flight to Bermuda. This was a pilot’s dream flight. You get to see the beautiful views and all of the passengers face’s light up as they step on to the beautiful island. I was ready to fly the lengthy flight. My life was perfect; I loved my house, my job, and all my friends. I had dreamed for a long time to fly to Bermuda, today was the day.
I was heading to the airport just like a regular day, I was the happiest I have ever been. I was so thrilled for the day ahead of me. My flight attendants and I cleaned the air craft and got the plane all set for the next flight. As we phoned the front desk to inform them we are ready for boarding, we hear the crowd cheer, full of delight. Although we were al eager for the trip, there was one problem- the plane was only half full.
I saw two guys walking on together one obese and one very fit. I was not one to judge but I thought this was very odd. I kept going with my routine with greeting passengers and forgot about the two men. Although within the next few hours I would never be able to forget them ever again.
As the passengers were boarding the airplane they complemented me on my looks. I had a scruffed beard, was tall, with blonde spiked hair, and posture like a man with confidence. This made me a little uncomfortable and feeling out of the sort, but what the heck I was going to fly to Bermuda.
As we taxied to the runway I double-checked everything so nothing could possibly go wrong. I checked all of it, the brakes, the lights, the traffic navigation, but I forgot to check the dang fuel. It was the worst mistake of my life. I will never forget how it all went down…
OOH! You want me to tell you the story? Okay.
Well as I already told you we were on our way to Bermuda with our tank almost half full. This was not enough to get all the way to Bermuda. We were out in the middle of the ocean; I was taking in the marvelous views of the ocean surrounding us. Then my co pilot notices a deserted island and pointed it out to me.
Me being myself said “Whatever it’s deserted for a reason.”
Little did I know I was going to need this island to stay alive. This is when everything started to go wrong. The fuel light went off and started beeping; I was freaked out, this had never happened. I called air traffic control and asked what the problem was, and they said that the meter had been stuck for a while and was being fixed when we landed in Bermuda. This was not the problem. The meter wasn’t broken, and we weren’t going to land in Bermuda.
I could feel the airplane was low on fuel because our speed and altitude were going down a lot. I knew what I had to do. I took a sharp right turn and headed back for the island we saw two minutes ago.
“We are going to execute a crash landing on a dieserted island and will have to evacuate when we land,” I explained to the frightened passengers.
It was the worst experience of my life. All I could think about was how could this happen? This is my entire fault! I just ruined these people’s lives! I just ruined my life! Everything is going to change! All I remember is going down into the jungle of the island and calling air traffic control informing them on our location. Then I blacked out.
I woke up under a canopy of palm trees, it was one of the most beautiful sites I had ever seen. Then I looked to my right. I saw the crashed plane and two survivors walking away. This was the worst feeling I had ever felt, my heart sank to my feet, this was all my fault then realized these were the two men walking on the plane that I had talked about earlier. These two men the skinny and very fit one, whose named I found out to be pat was dressed in a nice suit ready for the day ahead of him, and about to conquer the road. The more obese one, whose name was Arnold, he wore sweat pants and a sweatshirt with food stains on it and wobbled sort of like a penguin. I decided to follow them. But not to talk to them I didn’t know if they would be furious with my decision to crash land.
I followed them throughout the island for two weeks, which was when the air traffic controllers finally found us, but that is later in the story. I had followed them to food, to water, and even saw how they made their shelter. I was living their life but they didn’t know it. As I followed them over the short period of time, which felt like a whole lifetime. I discovered a lot about them. Arnold was trying to lose weight and Pat was trying to help Arnold. Pat would run every day and Arnold would try his best to keep up the pace. Almost every day they would disagree over the simplest of thing because they were both set in their ways. I also noticed Arnold was very smart, he built the shelter and knew exactly how to find food and water. I also found out that Pat was a very active person and wanted best for others, which is why he was trying to push Arnold to the best of his capability. These are some great guy, I thought.
Although it was very lonely and at times I just wanted to confront them, I couldn’t because I didn’t know how angry they were with me, or if they were angry at all. When we were rescued, I talked to them and they said they weren’t mad at me at all and would’ve loved to have me with them. On the plane back to the United States, we talked about our lives and our careers back home. They already knew I was the pilot of course, I was in the uniform. I then asked them the dreaded question “Are you mad at me?”
They replied “Of course not. The plane ran out of fuel, how in the world could you have controlled that?”
“How did you know the plane ran out of fuel?’ I asked
“You said it when we first started the descent to the island.” Explained the passengers.
I had no idea I had explained this to the passengers. I then found out they would have; loved to have me with them on the island because I would have given the resources they desperately needed, whatever that meant.
We are still friends to this day, and every year we take our annually “Remembrance” trip to Bermuda to remember what brought us all together.
As we sit on the airplane about to land in Bermuda I still think, “Was it my fault?”
Dear Veronica Roth
I think Veronica Roth is an awesome writer. I love the way
she writes with so much creativity. Divergent like the movie had me on the edge
of my seat the whole time I have been reading this book. I loved the book so
much because unlike some other books that I have read you can’t possibly
predict what is happening next. I loved this because you always wanted to turn
the page and keep reading because didn’t already know the next step in the plot
line. I loved the way she used the setting of Chicago and the way she uses
societies actions such as factions. I have no idea where she came up with these
ideas, but all I know is that I wish I had this type of an imagination.
I truly believe that this book s one of the best books I have
read, ever! I think this because I never knew what was happening next, which I said
before, and I had never even thought of anything like this before. I also had
tr4ied to put myself in her shoes in many times of the book. I couldn’t do it
because I could never have chosen one of those lifestyles. I would hate it, and
I would probably hate leaving my parents too. I would also never want to fight
that many people and break through security like she did. I also think this is
a great book because nothing is out there like it, such as Hunger Games there
are plenty of good books like hunger games just Hunger Games is one of the most
famous, but name one book that is like Divergent.
I also have written a letter to Veronica Roth in past blogs:
Dear Veronica Roth,
I am currently reading your famous book Divergent. I love this book; you have captured my emotions while I was reading many times. I love the description you use and the way you describe the characters emotion. Now to the good stuff, throughout my reading of your book I have thought of many questions in which I really want to ask you.
One of my first questions would be
where and how did you get started in your career? I have wondered this because
I know that most authors have a background story on how they start writing and
what inspires them, and these stories always interest me. I was also wondering
because I know you are a very young author, did you start writing and all of a
sudden your book was a big hit? I think of this because some authors either
work very hard and become famous once they are almost ready to retire, I also
know some authors can never achieve the fame that you have achieved. So what I
was wondering was how fast did your fame come, and how did it feel to be this
famous so early in your career? This interests me because you are a very young
author but one of the most famous authors too, how did you do it?
I know you have probably had this question asked to you many of times. But how in the world did you come up with this plot line. I love the way you describe the factions and the way the city people interact with each other. I know some people would say “It is like Hunger Games! She wasn’t even original!” and I would definitely disagree. I think this because Hunger Games is more of a wrecked society, where society can’t thrive. Whereas in Divergent the society is doing well until they find the divergent. I love your book and will continue to read the books. Please write back!

I think that this is a great way to show how young she is
and how successful she is too. I love the way she also indirectly says this in her
interview. I think this because she says that she felt “excited, but I don’t know,
a little nervous. I think that every time something big happens in your life, you think it is going to change your life in a dramatic way” This also shows how she is new to the movie industry and is
a very young author trying to figure out what to do next. Adding to the books success Veronica Roth is a very successful
young author, I love this book.

I believe that Wordle is a great way to show what you feel is great for your book. I think this because you get to show the importance of certain topics in the books. I also like this because it is a creative outlet to show your book in different ways. I chose Divergent to be the biggest word in the Worlde because it is of course the title of the book, and then it is also the main focus of the book too. I also used Aptitude because she takes the aptitude test an this starts the whole movie.I then said the five factions nad what they mean.I then said some other key elements in the book such as trainging and fighting between factions. I love Wordle and suggest it for anyone who likes to show their topics in creative ways.

The author of the book I am currently reading,
Veronica Roth is very famous. She wrote the divergent series and many more
books. She is an American novelist and short story writer. She is the recipient
of the good reads favorite book of 2011 and the best young adult fantasy and
science fiction award in 2012. She is best known for the divergent series the
series I am reading now. She also has four short stories from Tobias’s Point of
view coming out this year. I hope she writes more because she is a great author.

I believe that the video clip posted is a great demonstration of displacement because throughout this scene memo is very uncomfortable with the situation. Displacement is defined as when characters are uncomfortable with or at odds with the setting. I think this is shown greatly in the clip because nemo is just out in the new tank and he has no idea where he is and begins to swim frantically around te tank, running into the glass multiple times. I also think this shoes displacement because he doesn't know the ither fish in the tank and they scare him too. I believe this scene is an awesome acene for displacement.

I have recently finished the book the fault in our stars. I really like the book, it really appealed to the readers emotion. I really am looking forward to seeing the movie with all my friends who have also read the book. I am now planning to start reading the Divergent series, although I have seen the first movie i am still looking forward to reading these books. I have heard all of the books are very good. I have been told they have a lot of action, character development, and plot twists. Some people on my jump rope team have even started to read the 'new' series, which is from the character named four's perspective on the whole situation. I am very excited to get reading.

Be Careful When You Close the Window!
There was a huge crash! Why? I swore I would
never tell anyone. What's that? You'll pay me? Okay! Here it goes, but you
can't tell anyone, ever!
Landon
and I had been hanging out all Saturday. I had decided I would spend even more
time with him and spend the night. We went straight down to the basement with a
huge bowl of popcorn and a case of Doctor Pepper. We had been watching movies
for hours. I think we ended up watching Four. By then it was already midnight,
witch didn’t seem that late, se we decided to pull an all nighter. With
caffeine and food, how hard could it be? At around two in the morning, we had
finished all of our movies and resorted to playing board games we found in the
back.
I
had never been this tired and bored ever. It was going to be a hard night if we
didn't do something, and fast!
“What
do you wann do?” he would ask.
“I
don’t know!” was the usual respons.
When
I had talked about what we wanted to do, an idea came to mind to go down the
street and run around with his neighbor who had been texting us all night.
“Text
him first, otherwise we might be even more bored outside.” I reminded Landon.
We
ran the idea past him and he was cool with sneaking out too, we decided to meet
him near the neighborhood pool. Now was the hard part, getting out of the house
without waking Landon's parents.
Now this is where you might laugh at us. Do
you swear you won't tell anyone? Okay, pinky promise!
Since
we couldn't go upstairs, we had to find a way out of the house without leaving
the basement. Then I had the brilliant idea of climbing out the window.
“Why
don’t we just get something to climb out of the window with,” I questioned
“seems easy enough?”
We
had gotten the stepstool from the storage room and decided it was time to go.
We texted Landon's neighbor and told him we would be there in 10 minutes. I said
I would go first because I knew Landon was going to take a long time.
You know how there's an indent next to the
basement windows and there's a plastic cover over the indent? Yeah?
Landon told me
“Just get out into the little indent and then maybe it will be easier for you
to just stand up and get out of there.”
This
was a mistake, because I got in a position where I couldn't really move very
well.
“I
AM STUCK!” I said with a very stressed out voice.
This
meant that I couldn't move my arms and legs to get the plastic cover off of and
then, because of this, Landon had to get a pool stick and force it open so I
could stand up and get out. It was then when we thought we were home free. Something
went terribly wrong.
Landon
insisted on closing the window, I thought it was unnecessary because no one was
awake and we were going to come right back.
“It
wont budge, its stuck!” He explained
“What
do you mean it is stuck, it’s a window how hard could it be to close?” I spoke
too early.
He
tried closing it several times, but it wouldn’t budge, he ended up unhooking it
and not being able to hold it very well. He then dropped it. That is when it
all went wrong!
The
window crashed into the stool below us, it sounded like it could have come from
a horror movie, when an intruder breaks a window to rob the house. The sound
kept replaying in my head over and over again, the crack of the glass, the thud
of the stool, and even our gasps all replaying in my head. My heart sank, I
could feel the pounding on my chest, almost lie I am at a rock concert sitting
next to a speaker. Both of us stared at each other. It was terrible. We had no
idea what to do, until his parent’s bedroom light turned on. This is when I
started to panic, my mind was racing.
“What
if they think someone kidnapped us? They wont see us there and the window is
missing and broken all over the place!” I jumped to conclusion.
We
ran around to the front door and rang the doorbell over and over again.
Landon's Dad answered the door very confused is why we were outside. We
explained that the window had broken as Landon climbed out of the window, he
was very disappointed and told us that we had to clean up and I won't be in
trouble as long as we could get the replacement window in and cleaned up
without any help.
“Wow
landon if that was my dad we would both be dead right now!” I explained
“Oh
don’t worry I will be dead as soon as you leave tomorrow morning.” He said with
a melancholy face.
As
you can imagine, for two teenagers who had no idea how to clean up glass, this
was going to be a challenge we had started with vacuuming up the glass and
picking up millions of pieces. We also had to put the new window in, and this
was the challenge. We had to retry three times, and we had finally gotten it
right.
When
we finish the window and finish cleaning, that we sat down just to take a quick
break this break ended up being a 10 hour sleep we were tired it was 6 AM when
we fell asleep and about Four when we woke up . We were both surprised how well
we cleaned up and put the window in, and will never be that carless when we
close a window again.
We didn't get in much trouble, except his
dad being disappointed in us. The one lesson that we learned throughout this
whole experience was don't sneak out especially if you do be careful when you close the window.

I am currently reading The Fault in Our Stars by John
Green. I really like this book so far, throughout the book your emotions seem
to change. I think there are many quotes that could be life lessons in this
book. One of the most important quotes in the first part of the book would be when
Hazel says “My name is Hazel. I’m sixteen. Thyroid with mets in my lungs. I’m okay.”
I think this is a great quote to talk about from the beginning of the book
because this quote greatly shows Hazel’s attitude towards her cancer. It shows
how she is a very depressed person in many ways, she might wish that someone
else had her cancer instead. Maybe she wonders why do I have cancer, what did I
ever do? I believe this quote also foreshadows the tone in which Hazel might
act throughout the book. Like in the movie trailer she says “I am a ticking
time Bomb, and I will destroy everything in my path.” This shows how she will
act and be around others throughout the book and now even the movie. I hope
this book is as good as others portray, and the movie too.

I recently started to read the fault in our stars. I believe that this book so far is a very good book. One prediction I would make so far in the book is that the two main characters will end up falling in love. This does sound cliché, but it's true. I think this because the main character Agustus keeps staring at Hazel support group meeting. This may not be a lot of confidence but he seems to have liked. He also came to her again if the meeting to tell her that she liked. This came to her surprise and she somewhat flirted with him. This came to my surprise because she seems very depressed and gloomy all the time maybe even melancholy. I was surprised by this because she flirted with a guy when she seems like she's sad all the time. I might be too early in the book to predict due season in the near future.

I have recently started to read the
fault in our stars by John Green. John Green was born in Indianapolis and has
lived in many other states. He is both an author and a video-blogger, one of
the most-viewed on YoutTube with his early show Vlogbrothers as well as other
videos. His work with YouTube and self-promotion over the Internet set an
example for other authors, and video promotions for books is now standard
practice. He has written a number of young-adult books, most notably Looking
for Alaska, his first novel. He has won the Michael L. Printz Award, the Edgar
Award, and has been a finalist twice for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize.
Although his novel Paper Towns was
optioned for a movie, disagreements about the script has caused the project to
be canceled. Aside from his writing, Green still creates video-blogs for
YouTube with his brother, as well as collaborating with other young-adult
authors. Green continues to run a website for his fans, called Nerdfighters,
and produces new video material in a variety of formats. Green is married to Sarah
Green, his wife, and has a son, Henry. I hope I like the fault in our stars and
I am looking forward to reading it soon.

Logan Goldberg Final Blog February

Over
the course of trimester two I have read the three books in the hunger games
series, by Suzanne Collins. I used good reads in many ways. I used it to see
what other people were reading, and to add to my list off books I wanted to
read. I also recently went on and decided to read Divergent next. Over the
course of the trimester, in blogging I have struggled with writing detail.
Sometimes I wouldn’t write enough, or wouldn’t use textual evidence/ quotes, and
other times my blog might not have related to my book in some ways. Throughout
the course of the trimester, I did however improve on these problems by adding
details in my blog. I did this by adding quotes and textual evidence to my
blogs, and therefore my blogs were effectively more relevant to my book, and
proved what I was trying to convey more. A strength I had throughout blogging
in this trimester was that I had answered many different blog questions
throughout the eight blogs. I think this would be a great strength for me,
because it keeps blog readers interested. This is because readers don’t want to
read the same things over and over again, it would get very boring after a
while.
I
think my writing has improved in many ways over the course of the trimester, in
many ways. As I said before I have recently started to add a lot more detail
into my writing. I have done this by adding details and a lot of textual
evidence. This makes me relate back to the book in my writing, causing me to
have a well written blog post. This shows from my first blog to my sixth. One
excerpt from my first blog is “Think of competing in the battle of the
death, and then having to battle again against the best of the best.
Scary right. This is Catching Fire the second book of the Hunger Games series.
This past weekend I watched the movie, and I loved it. After the movie I
instantly wanted to start reading the book. I loved the first book and I am
looking forward to reading the second.” And then a quote from my sixth blog would
be “One
of the very important line in the first chapter would be "I back away from
the bakery and bump into something, lose my balance, and find myself sitting on
a hunk of sun heated metal, I puzzle over what it might have been, then
remember Tread's recent renovations of the square. Stocks, Whipping posts, and
this, the remains of the Gallows" I believe this is a very important quote
to the first chapter of the book because it gives a little background information
of the second book.” These are great quotes to show my growth in my writing
because it shows how in the very first blog I didn’t use quotes and talk about
the book much. It also shows how I used quotes to relate to the book, which was
a very good improvement from the first blog. Another good quote from that blog
would be “I think this because it shows how district 12 was bombed and left in
ruins, because she couldn’t tell what she tripped over at first. It also shows
haw the government was taking more control before the uprising. The Stocks,
Whipping posts and the Gallows, show this. It also shows this happened a little
while back, because it says the Gallows was sun heated. I believe this is a
very important line in the book because it sets the time frame for the whole
book, and tells us some very important details about the last book, Catching
Fire.” This also shows my improvement in many ways. I liked blogging and I hope
to continue reading and posting on my blog.

Dear Suzanne Collins,
I have recently stareted reading your last book in your Hunger Games series; Mockingjay. I liked reading the first two books, and so far the third book. I knew this was a very popular series, but i didnt know why. Now that i have read more than half of the series, i know why. I believe it is because of the action, romance, tragedy, comedy, and even the fact that teenagers could relate. There is a lot of action in these books, this is from all of the killing, and even the fact that they have uprisings, or have to live alone in the arena. There is also some romance, this is from the "love" Peeta and Katniss "share", I put quotes around love and share because as readers their love is on and off both for the capitol and for themselves. Gale also comes into play becasue him and Katniss seem to love eachother when they kiss. There is tragedy from all the death and corruption in the capitol. It is also tragedy that katiniss goes into the games twice. It could be a comedy because, some jokes are in the books, not as much as the other elements. I think the fact that Haymitch is a "drunk" could be comical in that sense. And one of the big elements would be that teenagers can realte, i think this is because Katniss is a teensger too, meaning we can easily put ourselves into her shoes. These are many of the main reasons I like these books, and why i think the rest of your readers enjoy these books.

I have recently started to read Mocking Jay the third and final book in the Hunger Games Series by Suzzane Collins. This book is about how Katniss survives the reberllion and is moved to Districrt 13 after she breaks the barrier of the Hunger Games. One of the very important line in the first cchapter would be "I back awayfrom the bakery and bump into something, lose my balance, adn find myself sitting on a hunk of sun heated metal, I puzzle over what it might have been, then remember Tread's recent renovations of the square. I think this because it shows how district 12 was bombed and left in ruins, because she couldnt tell what she triped over at first. It also shows haw the government was taking more control before the uprising. This is shown by the Stocks, Whipping posts and the Gallows. It also shows this happened a little while back, because it says the Gallow was sun heated. I believe this is a very important line in the book because it sets the time frame for the whole book, and tells us some very important details about the last book, Catchingt Fire.

Blizzard Bag Assignment
1)
I am reading Mockingjay I have just recently
started meaning I don’t have a lot read. So far Katniss has visited district
12, or at least the ashes of district 12, and has realized that district 13
could be using her friends and family as breeders. She believes this because
district 13 is populated with many elderly people and not many young people. This
causes her to think they need them to repopulate. I believe this book is going
to be great.
2)
I am enjoying all of the plot twist and unexpected
turn of events in Romeo and Juliet. This play is very interesting. I like how
Romeo and Juliet don’t even know who each other are and they kiss. Then when
they find out who each other is they are very shocked. I am very concerned with
how when the guys at the party saw that Romeo was a Montague they said they
should kill him. Are they going to kill him? Will their love cause fighting
between the rest of the families?
Blog 5. January 27,2013 (Mockingjay)-
I have recently started to read the third book of the Hunger
Games series. The first two books were great and I loved every part of them. Since
starting the new book a lot has happened. One prediction I can make is that
Katniss will become very angry with district 13 and how they deal with things.
I predict this because so far Katniss has commented on how district 13 does
things differently than how she is used to. She also commented on how they have
very little kids, and how everyone is older. I think this could mean district
13 will begin to breed the new people from district 12. This could make for an
interesting story, because this could make many people angry. I also think the
capital will do some irrational thing to the remaining people in Panem causing
uprising throughout the country. I believe this book will be very interesting
and action packed, I am looking forward to reading the rest.
